Welcome
[edit]Hi Mailer diablo, and welcome to Wikipedia.
Thankyou for finding the time to sign up and contribute to our little project. If you're in doubt about anything, you might want to check out some of these pages:
- Welcome, newcomers - a general introduction, and a good starting point
- The help centre and FAQs
- The Manual of Style - a guide to the community's writing conventions
It's also a good idea to sign the new user log and add a little about yourself.
When contributing to a talk page, you can sign your name by typing four tildes after your comments, like this: ~~~~. (Just so you know, some people won't pay attention to unsigned comments).
If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask me at my talk page, or at the Help desk or Village Pump.
Above all, make sure you be bold when contributing, and have fun!

Sure!
[edit]I will get down to all those broken links as soon as I find the time to do so. And thank you for noticing what I was doing. Then again, maybe the "small mess" I created will have warranted enough attention already! :D --Huaiwei 23:25, 12 Nov 2004 (UTC)
Malay wikipedia
[edit]Hi there! I noticed you adding yourself to the list of Malaysian wikipedians. I've been semi-systematically contacting likely Malay-speaking users to recruit them to ms, and you look like a good candidate. How about also taking a look at the Malay wikipedia. At the very least, how about creating a User page, just a little toe-hold? We could sure use a hand over there. Cheers, -- Kowey 18:47, 13 Nov 2004 (UTC)
Copyvios
[edit]When you mark an article as a copyvio, you need to delete all the material rather than just adding the copyvio template. Good work finding 'em! --jpgordon{gab} 04:59, 22 Nov 2004 (UTC)
Cell Disruption
[edit]You have reported that you feel the material posted is a possible copyright violation and you were correct and fast in discovering that it was cut and pasted from a website. But as webmaster of the Parr Instrument Company website we are the authors of the material and the COO of our company asked me to post it. PLease revert and thanks for your diligence. Dagimar
Article Licensing
[edit]Hi, I've started a drive to get users to multi-license all of their contributions that they've made to either (1) all U.S. state, county, and city articles or (2) all articles, using the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike (CC-by-sa) v1.0 and v2.0 Licenses or into the public domain if they prefer. The CC-by-sa license is a true free documentation license that is similar to Wikipedia's license, the GFDL, but it allows other projects, such as WikiTravel, to use our articles. Since you are among the top 2000 Wikipedians by edits, I was wondering if you would be willing to multi-license all of your contributions or at minimum those on the geographic articles. Over 90% of people asked have agreed. For More Information:
- Multi-Licensing FAQ - Lots of questions answered
- Multi-Licensing Guide
- Free the Rambot Articles Project
To allow us to track those users who muli-license their contributions, many users copy and paste the "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" template into their user page, but there are other options at Template messages/User namespace. The following examples could also copied and pasted into your user page:
- Option 1
- I agree to multi-license all my contributions, with the exception of my user pages, as described below:
- DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual
OR
- Option 2
- I agree to multi-license all my contributions to any U.S. state, county, or city article as described below:
- DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual
Or if you wanted to place your work into the public domain, you could replace "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" with "MultiLicensePD". If you only prefer using the GFDL, I would like to know that too. Please let me know what you think at my talk page. It's important to know either way so no one keeps asking. -- Ram-Man (comment| talk)
MTR
[edit]Hey, thanks for leaving a note on my talk page about the MTR. Yes, I'm keenly interested in making it a better page. Unfortunately for me, I have been busy putting out lots of other Wikipedia fires and I haven't had the chance to get to the MTR. I propse we come up with a plan for how to improve the MTR article to featured article quality.
Thanks!

Gakei and other random things
[edit]Hey,
Unfortunately, I didn't even realise that I had uploaded images from Gakei.com. Oops! I just did a Google search. If you want to take the time and the effort to fix them, I'm sure that would be much appreciated. Unfortunately I only have one other high-quality image that I can upload onto Wikipedia of the MTR, the other one being the image of the Central sign in Central station. Although I've taken a big break from the MTR, especially after it became so unruly with non-native English speakers making constant edits that had to be changed. Although if you can do some work, I'll be sure to chip in. In the mean time, I just uploaded File:DSC04319.JPG. Let me know what you think of it. Páll 22:41, 22 Dec 2004 (UTC)

[edit]I recently (today) submitted articles on MUKDEN MEDICAL COLLEGE, MARGARET RIDLEY CHARLTON and MEDICAL LIBRARY ASSOCIATION OF GREAT BRITAIN AND IRELAND. I received a note back saying I should not submit copyrighted material (unless I am the copyright owner). I am not sure which posting you are querying as in all cases I did use some copyright material BUT I am the copyright owner so hope it is OK and that the pages will appear in due course. Most appear on my own WWW site www.internatlibs.mcgill.ca but I thought that adding the info to Wiki would be useful.
Cheers and Happy Christmas.
David S. Crawford david.crawford@mcgill.caReeve Oliver
[edit]Hello, you marked my Reeve Oliver page for speedy deletion. I have read your bio, and I must insist that the write-up I wrote is not "spam," it is real info about a band that exists. I am neither a huge fan of the band or a flamer of them, just somebody who has listened to their music and decided to add it to wikipedia.
I would be very thankful if you would remove your claim for its deletion.
- Jamirus99
Thanks
[edit]Sorry, I wasn't logged in and had things to do around the house....I am currently expanding the page and "NPOV'ing" it...let me stress again that I have no affiliation with Reeve Oliver (I live on the opposite side of the continent from them) and am not doing an advertising run here...I'm just a lover of music who would like to share my interests.
Merry Christmas!
[edit]Heh, thanks for the welcome, I've been jumping between my page and yours trying to say Merry Christmas because of the messages you've been leaving. :)
No problem about my page either, I'm not very conscious about stuff like that. In any case, thanks for the warm welcome and haave a great holiday!
Getting rid of "You have new messages"
[edit]Merry XMAS and thanks for the welcome.
Now how do I get rid of the "You have new messages" message I keep seeing?

Timo Noko
[edit]Hello there. You slapped a "speedy" on Timo Noko shortly after I'd seen the article myself.
I'd never heard of this man till this evening. He seems mildly eccentric and mildly interesting; it's not his fault that the article (which I haven't touched) is jocose.
Please look again at what I've written on the "discussion" page. You may agree that a "speedy" is a bit too brusque. Hoary 12:54, 2005 Jan 3 (UTC)
Revision?
[edit]Hi,
I started working on some correction of articles, and within 10 minutes everything i edited changed back to origional format. Is this 'free' only if the contributor fits within certain parameters that agree with yours?

[edit]Hi Mailer,
With regards to the Singapore article, thanks for your help. I wanted to avoid confrontation and follow the Wikipedia:writers rules of engagement, but Neutrality did not reply to my post on the Talk page but deleted the whole discussion instead. The section was brought back by Huaiwei but it was deleted again by Neutrality.
I could only back off and hoped that other people could talk to him.
Once again, thanks for being objective. I hope I didn't come across as being offensive (that might be what Neutrality thought). If I do, please leave a message here so that I'll learn (I'm just a newbie - don't bite! LOL).

Hello Mailer, thanks for the warm welcome.
[edit]Well, I have used Wikipedia for a few month now and somehow thought it would be time to stop lurking and give something back to the community. ;-)
Nice User page you have here. Really nice.

Re: KCR
[edit]I am going to put Octopus cards on WP:FAC this week, so I'd think I'd be busy. But I'm going to get around to doing KCR later, may be later this month or early next month.
Also, I personally believe that KCR should be split along the lines of MTR and MTR Corporation, i.e., for the rail line articles, namely East Rail (KCRC), West Rail (KCRC) and the LRT article to talk about the history of the rail lines, and for the Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation article to talk about the company itself. What do you think? My message is also on the individual talk pages.

Gaurav1146 16:28, 6 Feb 2005 (UTC) Hi! I got a welcome message from you yesterday.First of all I would like to thank you for that. I had some queries. 1)Are the pages on wikipedia case sensitive.Today I created a page titled "Anti-Sikh Riots". When I tried to search for "Anti-Sikh riots" I got the message that the page could not be found. Is there a better way of redirecting pages apart from "Move" command. I mean if I want to redirect all possible case combinations of "Anti-Sikh Riots" to the same link how can I do that. 2)secondly the searching system at wikipedia is quite inefficient as compared to google. Wikipedia doesnt entertain even slight spelling errors. TIA gaurav

KCR
[edit]Hi. I am not 100% sure whether you want rolling stock inside KCR or inside the four individual rail lines because as far as I remember they are totally different. JuntungWu 11:51, 12 Feb 2005 (UTC)
"Own Photos/Images on your WikiStats"
[edit]Hi Mailer Diablo. I seem to have oddly lost any record of your greeting when I first came here about a month ago. I was messing around with redirecting my User page, and it just disappeared. Huh. Anyway, I noticed the images on your WikiStats page were all linked like external links. In case you didn't know, images can be easily from articles by using the syntax Displayed text. I was going to change it for you, but I figured you have some other reason for linking like that. See ya. --Poiuytman 12:08, 12 Feb 2005 (UTC)

Stop Vandalizing Graffiti
[edit][1] [2] Stop that! --L33tminion | (talk) 15:57, Feb 18, 2005 (UTC)
- I do try to assume good faith, but checking the history, it seems like you added vandalism where there was none before, and did it twice. Still, you're right, I should have been more patient. Sorry for overreacting. --L33tminion | (talk) 20:34, Feb 18, 2005 (UTC)

[edit]I started an article on Photoelasticity yesterday. Thats quite vast a topic for a single person to cover. So, is there any way where I can ask people related to Mechanics directly to contribute to that article. Thanx in Advance

[edit]Hey, how are you? it seems like someone added a lot of material to the expansion section of the MTR, but its horribly formatted and I have no idea how to fix it. Do you have any ideas? Páll 11:26, 26 Feb 2005 (UTC)
Return of the Untagged Image project
[edit]You were kind enough to contribute to the Wikipedia:Untagged images project; I beg to draw your attention to part 2 of the project - there are about 12,000 more images in need of tagging. Any assistance you could provide would be most welcome. thanks --Tagishsimon (talk)
Thank you for your rearrangement
[edit]I would like to send my thanks on the rearrrangement of the page. I am a newbie just need to polish my own contribution skills. I hope you could help if I really mess up the MTR page.
By the way, I'd like to ask why the part for Airport Exhibition Centre station's content was deleted. Is it making the page too "bloated"?
--Xavier114fch 14:50, 27 Feb 2005 (UTC)
- Yes, and I'm from Hong Kong. It's nice to know that some local people contributes much.
- I have written some in the KCR page, especially on the fare system and future expansion parts. There will soon be some discussion on Sha Tin to Central Link (SCL) in the Legislative Council, so I have not start modifying that part. SCL is a complicated project and deserves a separate page, like West/South Island Line of MTR. I'll try building up the contents. Some images in West and South Island Line Page has been added (my work ;) ).
- I'd also like to ask if there'll be any copyvio if I make modification on images of MTR/KCR official site and put them up in the wiki. I've checked the copyright notice of MTR, and (if I read it correct) it does not allow any redistribution of modified content in its site, but the two system maps in MTR & KCR seems to be a cropped official map. No offense, but I'd like to make sure if I can do so or not.
- --Xavier114fch 07:11, 28 Feb 2005 (UTC)
- I have made some amendments on MTR page, especially on the safety part. I don't wanna conveying false info on the paragraphs stating PSDs. Some rearrangements on the reference part too, linking to the real website that the title reads, and putting them in neat categories.
- I found that the external links part is somehow messy now. Is it ok for me to do some rearrangement again?
- Greetings!

Dispute resolution
[edit]Thanks for your attempt to calm me down, but I'm not sure a Wiki-vacation is the solution - I'm thinking more of leaving Wikipedia altogether. Re: Make Good Content, Not Edit Wars!
[edit]Thanks a lot Mailer diablo. I didn't mean to join him in these revert wars. But there's certainly something that one cannot give up. Indeed she/he's been challenging many of my edits across Wikipedia. I don't think that's tolerable. — Instantnood 19:33, Mar 11, 2005 (UTC)

[edit]hi mailer diablo.
hope all is well. just wanted to ask you to please not vote to delete our entry in wikipedia, it means a lot to us (even though it is only an imaginary country at the moment, it is very real to us) and is not intended for commercial purposes. hope you will consider this. thanks, seh.
Hello Mailer diablo, I would to have your assistance to help relieving a long-term revert war by Huaiwei on my edits. He is starting to revert as many as my edits as possible, no matter what changes I have made to the pages. This recent one over Category:Airports of Macau is particularly annoying, not to mention his words " you are in the mood for rv war episode 2? This is simply getting lame. " in the edit summary. He's simply ignoring what have been changed.
I don't know exactly what you can help, but I believe you're in a much more neutral and unbiased position to deal with the issue. Thanks in advance. — Instantnood 21:00, Mar 14, 2005 (UTC)
