Would love to know what Spanish has to do with Mexico
[edit]Spain is in EU, so how or why is it being referred to for Mexican culture? 110.175.32.32 (talk) 06:56, 19 September 2022 (UTC)
The quinceañera is the girl, not the party
[edit]It makes no sense to say that it is a celebration. The quinceañera is the girl herself. 82.36.70.45 (talk) 19:12, 6 January 2024 (UTC)
- Even if it's grammatically incorrect to call the celebration of a quinceañera (the person) a quinceañera itself, it is commonly called that. Wikipedia doesn't dictate language rules. soetermans. ↑↑↓↓←→←→ B A TALK 19:23, 6 January 2024 (UTC)
- Can we say that it is logically, semantically and grammatically nonsense? 82.36.70.45 (talk) 19:26, 6 January 2024 (UTC)
- That would be WP:EDITORIALising, to point that out. But isn't the lead sufficient? It already states
The girl celebrating her 15th birthday is a quinceañera (Spanish pronunciation: [kinseaˈɲeɾa]; feminine form of "15-year-old"). In Latin America, the term quinceañera is reserved solely for the honoree; in English, primarily in the United States, the term is used to refer to the celebrations and honors surrounding the special occasion.

Woman?
[edit]I thought we only used woman when the person in question is at least 18 years old. 82.36.70.45 (talk) 19:26, 6 January 2024 (UTC)
