PS, to anyone wondering why this template exists. This template can be used to easily reference other templates in discussions, like so:

{{template|test}} appears as {{test}}. Brilliant!

Caveats: due to MediaWiki limitations, this template cannot be used more than five times on a single page. Due to a MediaWiki bug, parameterized templates do not work for inclusion. I.e., {{subst:template|test}} does not work (yet). • Benc • 04:38, 29 Aug 2004 (UTC)

Also, {{template2}} now exists, which allows one to add parameters like so:

{{template2|template name|parameters (note: use | instead of |)}}

Not done as it will end up causing the upstream cascade protection to flow down, overriding the tprots. If you want something simple that isn't template-based added here (such as a category) please open another er. — xaosflux ^Talk 16:12, 8 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
