Gap in timeline
[edit]There seems to be a gap 1848-1855. Port Augusta, South Australia suggests it might be filled by Sir Henry Edward Fox Young. History_of_Tasmania has a similarly-named Sir Henry Fox Young as governor from 1855. I don't know if they are the same person. Anyone know? --ScottDavis 03:56, 25 Apr 2005 (UTC)
There is another gap. The list leaves out Sir William Wellington Cairns CMG, who held the position for about eight weeks (April-May?) in 1877 between governors Musgrave and Jervois. He is sometimes dismissed as "Acting Governor" ostensibly because he was never sworn in at a public ceremony, but more probably because he was unpopular, and resigned because of ill-health. However, his appointment by the Secretary of State for the Colonies was as formal as that of any of his predecessors. Peter Bell (talk) 23:36, 21 May 2008 (UTC)
table reformatted
[edit]I've reformatted the list as a table, using the data from http://www.governor.sa.gov.au/html/governor.html I've kept the name format exactly as found on that site, and kept the wikilink names exactly as I found them on this page for compatibility. There are a few (Weigall, Bridges, Barclay-Harvey, Norrie) that now have a link not very similar to the displayed name. I don't want to change the names, as the Governor's website is likely to reflect what they were actually called. Were the original names set by a usual biography standard? --ScottDavis 11:42, 16 May 2005 (UTC)
Lieutenant governor
[edit]It would be good if there was a link here to Lieutenant governors of South Australia, but I don't think this page exists ROxBo 16:35, 8 April 2007 (UTC)
