[edit]We're delighted to have new contributors, and look forward to finding out about Gone to Texas - but please don't create an article until you have something to put into it! Articles shouldn't have comments and discussion - that's what Talk pages (like this one) are for.
And while you're at it, why not create an account so it's easier for comments to find you? You can remain anonymous within the account, if you wish. - DavidWBrooks 14:48, 23 Mar 2004 (UTC)
Question
[edit]Isn't this supposedly one of Davy Crockett's remarks when he is not re-elected to congress? According to legend, he told his constituents: "You can all go to hell, and I will go to Texas." —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.147.83.187 (talk) 05:05, 18 June 2010 (UTC)
- That remark is certainly attributed to Davy Crockett, but "go to Texas" isn't "gone to Texas" and I don't think they're related. This article is about the specific history attached to the phrase "Gone To Texas," which has a specific usage during a defined time period -- not about every quote that mentions going there.—e. ripley\talk 12:12, 18 June 2010 (UTC)
Indeed, perhaps the quote doesn't belong in this article; however, the [citation needed] note seems inappropriate. The remark is amply cited, I think, in WikiQuotes: http://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/Davy_Crockett et seq. Gil (talk) 19:07, 18 November 2013 (UTC)
