Jeter name "has been reported"
[edit]I added a note that the report that Derek Jeter was named after him is incorrect, as Jeter was named after his father, Sanderson Charles Jeter. Jeter has stated that 'Sanderson' is a common name in his family.
Normally, incorrect information like this "has been reported" item would simply be removed from an article. But since this is widely reported, it seems better to leave it here, with the notation that it is incorrect. T-bonham (talk) 08:02, 5 December 2007 (UTC)
- The issue was addressed extensively two years ago. There were reliable sources indicating it was correct. There has not been a single reliable source contradicting it. If you do have any, feel free to post it, but until then, we should go with what published sources state. Ravenswing 14:41, 5 December 2007 (UTC)
- Actually, there is an official source now, from a 2006 interview at MLB.com[1]. He says the following:
Q: Who were you named after? If you were you named after the hockey player Derek Sanderson, who was the hockey fan in your family?
- -- Tony V., Deer Park, N.Y.
- Derek: Actually, I was named after my father, Sanderson Charles Jeter.
Jeter reversions
[edit]I don't suppose there's any way this could be tabled until the matter is resolved over on the Derek Jeter page, is there? Ravenswing 01:57, 19 October 2005 (UTC)
Something odd that could go into the arcticle
[edit]Sanderson assisted on Bobby Orr's stanly Cup-winning goal. Sanderson's jersey number, I read somewhere, was 16. Orr's jersey number way 4. 4 times 4 is 16. 24.83.3.54 02:03, 31 August 2007 (UTC)
- That's the kind of invented "trivia" that should not' be in the article. No doubt you could also total up their respective birthdates as integers and discover that the sum is equal to the square root of Phil Esposito's and John Bucyk's birthdates, but that's likewise not pertinent. Sources? And using Wiki as Advertising?
[edit]Where are the sources for this article? It reads more like self-promotion than an encyclopedia article in several spots, especially the last paragraph: "where he invests for young athletes and high net worth individuals in ways that maximize returns while investing conservatively, and emphasizing the privacy of the investors."
I mean c'mon! That's blatant advertising copy. Maybe Wiki should charge for the air time! It really does only serve to diminish the stature of the individual and demean the article to conclude it with such crass and self-serving business promotion. Very, very tacky indeed.
"Derek Is Here"
[edit]Does anyone remember that in his jumping to the WHA? There was some unrelated advertising campaign then or not long beforehand which said "Eric is here". — Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.63.16.82 (talk) 15:34, 21 October 2011 (UTC)
Screwed Up Edits
[edit]I tried to add the official website for Derek Sanderson and somehow things got completely screwed up. Can I just get rid of all edits I have made. User is 210usa Thanks, Jeff Sullivan — Preceding unsigned comment added by 210usa (talk • contribs) 21:24, 20 July 2015 (UTC)
- The edits have been reverted. The website has been added to the infobox as well. --Mo Rock...Monstrous (leech44) 14:32, 21 July 2015 (UTC)
