[edit]heres the best i can extract from his blog Parent not knowing
Because the ↓ which means that I said from the teachers (it is difficult, in the range which has been remembered)
The joint disk (the cartilage between the joint and the joint of the jaw) having slipped in the front, when, closed lock which the joint is locked.
Inflammation and passing tension of very strong masseter group.
Because the parent not knowing, there is no just one, the jaw having been warped.
When opening the jaw, the muscle which is bitten works to in addition to, troublesome thing, in remedy e.g., Those which require time is a variety, so is.
Because the primary factor crosses the multi limbs, if sprint medical therapy, tooth extraction, time such as needle, [kairopurokuteitsuku] and massage you permit, the varieties you have tried.
There is the reality which advances, but because it is not the case that it calculates usual life level, there is impatience.
If [jitabata] and, being ugly, perhaps, shy thing, but understanding to receive thinking seven winning successively, you can support the form which struggles, you think.
In addition, perhaps there are also times when you introduce the teacher cooperation with this. At that time, because the teachers are doing best effort truly, if it becomes good, concerning the result of the jaw, it is the power of the teachers if and, so is not, it is my responsibility.

2007 June 24th Vocational disease Some days ago, my jaw seceded the front.
In the scream of the body, the ear you have been ashamed by your being able to tilt.
When training starting from there was a pain.
Goal, when it is simply to participate and to win and you think training that the 抑 [te] it was.
However, because the fact that it wins with new record is goal, being the conference close, you could not discontinue training.
Until the conference ends with, from calling, we want withstanding!
So, while praying, while and others obtaining pain densely, it continued training, but finally you stopped the life of your own jaw by your.
The jaw opens just a little only anymore.
Opening the mouth, as for there is no pain, to finger one amount.
Being painful, you do not open above that.
As for diagnosis gnathal arthropathy.
If it tries reviewing, when from about two years ago, you yawn, because the jaw may come off had becoming, you had been patient big yawn directly.
Long time strength training, becoming big stress in the jaw, it is to be accumulated.
And this time, the return battle eye.
In order to recover completely from the shock, it raised feeling, until now it trained high intensity it is not.
It is and it exceeds allowance load of the result and the jaw it seems that in the [tsu] coming.
As for the gnathal arthropathy for the hood fighter, if you refer to the baseball, kind of those where the pitcher breaks down the elbow.
Speaking honestly, the finishing the fact that it makes cure almost is desperate circumstance to the conference July 4th.
Say, not to be story of the conference of [neisanzu], the serious problem which relates to also future activity.
It is the fatal wound.
In order to cure, repose and long-term remedy are necessary.
When condition above this is advanced in stage ahead, also the kind of situation which relates to player life the head the [gi] [ri] it increases.
If originally, it is the expectation which feeling has knocked down rather.
However, feeling is maintained still once strongly.
Is compared to the shock which if the mother the dying/fleeing [ku] is done, the extent which does not become problem small thing to put out, before dying, because you look at the fighting illness of the mother whose several days is splendid this is.
It means that the mother has supported.
In other words, still, it is to be the feeling which would like to participate in the [neisanzu] conference.
Like this if it becomes, now as for value of victory of the conference, all victories to six winning successively as for becoming something which together, does not serve it is secure. (Already by this predicament, those which are not visible until now have been visible)
Perhaps, when it does, therefore predicament perhaps very we would like to participate. (Depending upon the method of thinking the professional, as a professional perhaps, lowest selection but)
Winning, self-confidence and true honor inserting in the hand,
And,
It is to like to become pride of the mother.
For that, while being in Japan, it is necessary to take as much as possible necessary measures vis-a-vis the gnathal arthropathy.
Temporarily, Monday has coming from Tottori to the teacher of [kairopurakuteikusu] which has been relied on in evening of the hospital and that day, to Wednesday makes remedy has become.
Being lowest, it is to like to keep having to the place where you can open the jaw which you do not open.
Because you open simply, with, with the tournament there is no meaning, it is necessary to try to be opened quickly.
Because it is troublesome breakdown, we want many items of information in any case, is.
Because in the gnathal arthropathy more detailed one, it is good with any small information, please teach. Because (it is participation prerequisite, without we ask to with repose)
It is short, when the person who is the experience which is cured at period is, it is grateful truly truly, is.
Doing the sufficient thing preparing for participation, even then when it is unreasonable, there is no manner.
Please lend power to me

- Takeru Kobayashi of Japan is widely acknowledged as the world's most accomplished competitive eater. Kobayashi, who has eaten more than 50 Nathan's Famous hot dogs and buns in 12 minutes and 69 Krystal hamburgers in eight minutes, is a member of the International Federation of Competitive Eating, which is essentially the NFL or NBA of competitive eating. Kobayashi has been beaten in longer events in Japan by Nobuyuki Shirota, but in the shorter, eight- to 10-minute contests run in America by the IFOCE, he has never been beaten. The closest any eater has come was at the 2005 Krystal Square Off, in which Joey Chestnut of San Jose California led Kobayashi for the first seven minutes and ended the match only four hamburgers behind him.
I believe he stated on the recent episode of MTV True Life, that he tries to chew as much as possible to fit more food in there. This article says he avoids chewing when possible.
- true. Also in the same section here it mentions that he only weighs 131 lbs. Although he did used to be very skinny, on his appearnece on MTV True Life and at the 2005 Coney Island contest he was very muscular and obviously well over 131lbs.
Greatest of All Time
[edit]He is clearly the greatest competetive eater of all time. Not to start a wiki war but unless someone comes up with a good argument for not including this, I'm changing it--Pbasu 18:19, 6 August 2006 (UTC)
- It is difficult to use the phrase "of all time" in any claim. It is far more accurate to use "in written history". How do we know there wasn't a greater competitive eater in prehistoric times? --Kainaw (talk) 15:10, 7 November 2006 (UTC)
- However, "He is widely regarded as the greatest athlete of his generation." is laughable. I'm going to change it. Camipco 15:55, 28 March 2007 (UTC)

Vandalism ?
[edit]What's with the vandalism ? "this guy sucks" - I can't seem to edit it away.
Height
[edit]Though, he has his height listed at 5'7", he's also listed at 5'6", which seems more realistic to me. Most people lie about their height by at least and inch:

Factual error?
[edit]In the article it is reported that he won the 2007 contest with what would be a new world record of 54 hot dogs. My concern about this fact is that the 2007 contest won't take place until July 4...and this is being written in February. Was this a prediction? an error? or was it maybe won at a contest other than Nathan's? comment was added by 64.111.46.43 (talk) 19:42, 6 February 2007 (UTC).
It was the prelimanary qualification round for the july fourth event. Kairos 08:40, 28 June 2007 (UTC)

Jingoism
[edit]Deleted reference to Joey Chestnut as "American Hero", changed simply to "American". This isn't the place for jingoism. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 134.67.6.11 (talk • contribs) 14:43, 5 July 2007
interesting fact
[edit]you could add under the bratwurst part that kobayashi was so dominate in the sport at the time (even though chestnut would beat him today) that he was able to beat Sonya Thomas's record of 35 before the first half of the competition was over.
Nathan's 2007 Weigh-In
[edit]Does anyone happen to know what weight Kobayashi weighed in at for the 2007 Nathan's Famous contest?
ERROR!
[edit]Poemisaglock 17:16, 7 July 2007 (UTC) kobayashi ate 25.5 hotdogs in the 2001 nathan's competition, not 25.5 as stated in the article.
the 25.5 hotdogs part still needs to be changed but it is actually "the rabbit's" record of 25.5 in 2001. see reference from other wikipedia article. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nathan%27s_Hot_Dog_Eating_Contest
RE-gurgitator
[edit]Poemisaglock 18:01, 7 July 2007 (UTC) There should be mention that Kobayashi had a "reversal of fortune" during the 2007 competition. You could argue that there is no proof of this, but it was painfully obvious from the video. You could see the dough gushing out. Sorry, didn't mean to ruin your appetite, but i had to prove my point.
Height
[edit]Kobayashi may give himself 5'8", but he certainly doesn't look it. And, this 2004 article describes him at a much more realistic 5'6":
"The 26-year-old Kobayashi, who is 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighs 132 pounds, beat the record of 50.5 frankfurters that he set in 2002."
http://edition.cnn.com/2004/US/07/04/fourth.wrap/
Even the International Federation of Competitive Eating gave him 5'6":
Takeru Kobayashi Nagano, Japan 5’6”, 144 lbs, 26 Years, 53½ Hot Dogs 2004
http://www.ifoce.com/news.php?action=detail&sn=267
I suspect it is much more likely he's only 5'6".
Man vs. Beast
[edit]He once competed against a Kodiak Bear in a Man vs. Beast contest. I know he lost, but by how much?203.184.35.110 (talk) 09:02, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
--->You can check the answer to that on YouTube. There is a video of him eating hot dogs against a grizzly bear.
Weight
[edit]I have updated his weight to 165lbs from what he has listed on his website. The previous number of 128lbs is way outdated. He is a noted gym rat and has packed on tons of muscle. He is so jacked if you look at his newer pictures that he was even up to 190lbs for a while if you read his blog.

3 errors in one
[edit]The "Competition and records" section begins "Born in Nagano, Japan。 won [...]". It should be obvious how many things are wrong with that. I count three. His birthplace surely didn't win him any competitions, so that's misplaced. The period is not ASCII (it's probably a Japanese period). And there's no capital letter after the attempt at a period.
While I'm here, I feel it's worth pointing out that competitive eating is infantile, and shouldn't be dignified by publishing info about it, nor about its proponents. Interestingly, I came here from The Usual Suspects, and I stayed for morbid curiosity. Delete this topic, and then cease and desist. Thank you. 2601:600:A480:D8E0:A01A:2652:98CB:A1EC (talk) 01:31, 29 September 2023 (UTC)
List of references
[edit]How useful is it to have a list of times this person was referenced in a movie? That section, as well as the commercial appearances section, is fairly useless to a reader. The Japanese article has more up-to-date information and at least provides its references and appearances in a bulleted list. Reconrabbit (talk|edits) 20:55, 13 December 2023 (UTC)
Kobayashi's Retirement from Competitive Eating
[edit]I understand that Kobayashi has announced his retirement from professional eating in a Netflix documentary here, [3] but it was recently (one month ago) announced that Kobayashi would be competing against Joey Chestnut in a hot dog eating contest one last time in a Netflix show titled "Unfinished Beef" airing during Labor Day [4]. It's clear that Kobayashi hasn't exactly retired yet, as he's actively planning on participating in eating events. We should consider rephrasing to indicate that he is not currently retired or that he is planning on retiring in the future. Thoughts? MetropolitanIC (💬|📝) 19:41, 5 July 2024 (UTC)
- It seems to me that he is retired and doing a one-off event. Sort of like Chris Chambliss appearing once for the Yankees after he had left so that he could officially retire as a Yankee. The most recent retirement that I know of is Nelson Cruz's. Point is, if this is a one-off, then we could say that he briefly unretired for one more match. Granted, we don't really know what will happen.
- For now, we could say that he was revealed to have retired from competitive eating in late April 2024, before being announced to be participating in the "Unfinished Beef" contest in mid June 2024. We could even add in a quote: "Retiring for me will only happen after I take him down one last time." --Super Goku V (talk) 12:31, 10 July 2024 (UTC)
