Evidence and Accuracy
[edit]The source on Ellis’s froutteurism is Ellis himself, as the article cites his 2010 autobiography. Without other evidence we can’t claim that “Ellis committed copious sexual assaults.” We can only say that, as the previous version stated, “Ellis wrote…”
Salvador Dalí wrote in his autobiography that he deliberately kicked his three year old sister in the head, that he threw a boy off a suspension bridge, that he was impotent until the age of thirty, and that he beat a little girl bloody, among other things. This is as damning as anything Ellis said and yet no one automatically assumes it’s true, because it's clear that some people will exaggerate or lie for attention and effect. But an encyclopedia can't do this. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lajjaasu (talk • contribs) 21:36, 21 September 2023 (UTC)

WWII
[edit]He would have been age 28 in 1941. How did Ellis avoid the draft all through WWII? The article does not explain how he financed full-time study at Columbia during these war years, before he started a part-time practice. Did he do absolutely nothing for the 4-year war effort?Starhistory22 (talk) 07:26, 5 July 2018 (UTC)
- (1) Since he was plagued will debilitating health problems his entire life, he likely wouldn't have been fit to serve. (2) He got an accounting degree before he became a psychologist, because he wanted to be able to support himself. He had also been a good student, and may have received scholarships and grants.
