Move
[edit]Whew. Such a sensible move to this historical designation. Thank you. Wetman 23:01, 7 Feb 2004 (UTC)
The move is wrong, because this is not the history of Bohemia, but the history of Czechia (i.e. Bohemia, Moravia, Silesia and other annexed countries). But stupidity always wins... User:KirkEN
The move was correct. The historical name of the country that existed from the Middle Ages until 1918 was "(Kingdom of) Bohemia", which designated both Bohemia proper and its adjacent lands the "Margraviate of Moravia" and, for the longer part at least, the "Duchy of Silesia". The whole complex was never called Czech lands, at least not in English (in Czech, I think, Bohemia and Czechia are one word). Czech lands also pushes a natonalist POV as if there were Czechs and only Czechs living in these lands. "Hungary" is not filed under "Magyar lands" either. So I moved it back.
And KirkEN, you should refrain from incivil remarks. Str1977 (talk) 07:52, 14 September 2009 (UTC)
It's not true. Kingdom of Bohemia is only Bohemia, see http://www.deutsche-schutzgebiete.de/kuk_boehmen.htm State of Bohemia, Moravia and Silesia was named Lands of the Bohemian Crown (http://www.worldstatesmen.org/Czech_Republic.html) --KirkEN (talk) 12:41, 15 September 2009 (UTC)
Read this web: http://www.deutsche-schutzgebiete.de/kuk_boehmen.htm And watch this picture - http://www.deutsche-schutzgebiete.de/webpages/kuk_Boehmen.gif --KirkEN (talk) 12:55, 15 September 2009 (UTC) And here is another links http://www.zum.de/whkmla/histatlas/germany/haxlbc.html http://www.google.cz/#hl=cs&source=hp&q=Lands+of+the+Bohemian+Crown&btnG=Vyhledat+Googlem&lr=&aq=f&oq=Lands+of+the+Bohemian+Crown&fp=6e766ec921e3b3f4 --KirkEN (talk) 13:03, 15 September 2009 (UTC)
And Bohemia is in Czech Čechy; Czechia ins in Czech Česko --KirkEN (talk) 13:05, 15 September 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for the info the second point. So there is a difference, albeit a minute one.
As for the first, I might read it or might not read it. It doesn't change the fact that Kingdom of Bohemia is an accurate term for the conglomerate of Bohemia, Moravia and Silesia. But as long as there's no longer a Czechocentric POV being pushed I can live with it. Str1977 (talk) 15:27, 15 September 2009 (UTC)
PS. I have read your links and looked at the pictures and see nothing that proves your contention. Nobody disputes the term "Lands of the Bohemian Crown" (though "Lands of the Crown of Saint Wenceslas" would have been even more accurate) but neither is there any sense in disputing the applicabiliy of "Kingdom of Bohemia" for the whole conglomerate. Afterall, if there a name with "Kingdom" and "Bohemia" in the name is practically identical to a name with "Crown" and "Bohemia". Str1977 (talk) 15:32, 15 September 2009 (UTC)
