Orphaned fair use image (Image:NASA Worm logo.png)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:NASA Worm logo.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. King of 18:02, 9 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image tagging for Image:Armstrong_16mm.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Armstrong_16mm.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 06:00, 5 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, the image has been deleted in the mean time, but i got it undeleted again. I'll add all the info about it that i know, but i would still appreciate if you could give any idea of where exactly you found this particular image. --TheDJ (talkcontribs) 12:25, 15 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Unspecified source for Image:200px-German_Titov.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:200px-German_Titov.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 03:53, 8 July 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Lokal_Profil 03:53, 8 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

I just looked at Explorer 35 and I really enjoyed it. When I was an Astronomy lab instructor in the late eighties, the best and my favorite lab involved time and position data from this satellite. It seems kind of simple and it was, simple and sweet -- from the time points plotted on graph paper, you could use a ruler and Keplers Laws of Planetary Motion and determine the mass of the moon. Heck, forget the teaching of the lab, it was beautiful to me (probably a radio, tv and film major) at the time I took the lab) and caused me to want to study how real things work. Then later, I watched the light turn on for many who also worked through the exercise. I probably watched about 200 students see how those little centuries old mathematical laws actually work.

I tried to figure out how to mention in the text there that the little satellite indeed followed all of the laws while in orbit around the moon, but it didn't seem to fit anywhere....

I also shed a tear when I read that they had flipped the switch and killed it. That little guy was still alive to me.

Thank you for writing that. -- Carol 03:32, 6 October 2007 (UTC)

Meanwhile, Image:Pegasus_deployment.png is a mess

[edit]

I am replacing it with the one on the commons that (I think) has the original background and requesting that this one be deleted. All that, and I don't know if I know enough to follow the deletion requests here and if it will ever be important to follow them.

Space missions WikiProject

[edit]

Hi, I noticed that you are a member of the Space missions WikiProject. A couple of weeks ago, I proposed that the Space missions and Space travellers projects, which both appear to be inactive be merged into the Human Spaceflight project. Whilst this is being done, the capitalisation of the Human spaceflight project's title would also be corrected (ie. Human SpaceflightHuman spaceflight). The projects are all doing the same/very similar things, and in my opinion, a single, larger, project would be more effective than three smaller, and somewhat inactive projects.. In light of very little response to messages on the project talk pages, I am now sending this message to all members of all three projects, inviting them to discuss the proposal on the Human Spaceflight project's talk page. I would appreciate your opinion on this. Thanks. --GW_SimulationsUser Page | Talk 21:59, 28 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:Proton Zvezda.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. AzaToth 15:44, 11 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of File:X-15 insignia.png

[edit]

A tag has been placed on File:X-15 insignia.png requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I8 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is available as a bit-for-bit identical copy on the Wikimedia Commons under the same name, or all references to the image on Wikipedia have been updated to point to the title used at Commons.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on [[ Talk:File:X-15 insignia.png|the talk page]] explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Unreferenced BLPs

[edit]

Hello Reubenbarton! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 14 of the articles that you created are tagged as Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring these articles up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 3 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:

File:Splashdown 2.png missing description details

[edit]
Dear uploader: The media file you uploaded as:

is missing a description and/or other details on its image description page. If possible, please add this information. This will help other editors make better use of the image, and it will be more informative to readers.

If the information is not provided, the image may eventually be proposed for deletion, a situation which is not desirable, and which can easily be avoided.

If you have any questions, please see Help:Image page. Thank you. Theo's Little Bot (error?) 01:33, 13 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Better source request for some of your uploads

[edit]

Thanks for your uploads to Wikipedia. There is an issue with some of them, specifically:

You provided a source, but it is difficult for other users to examine the copyright status of the images because the source is incomplete. Please consider clarifying the exact source so that the copyright status may be checked more easily. It is best to specify the exact Web page where you found the images, rather than only giving the source domain or the URL of the image files themselves. Please update the image descriptions with URLs that will be more helpful to other users in determining the copyright status.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source in a complete manner. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page or me at my talk page. Thank you. Message delivered by Theo's Little Bot (opt-out) 21:00, 16 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. File source problem with File:S85-43570.jpg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:S85-43570.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.

If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Notice

The file File:S89-28536.jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Orphaned image. File:Sts-30 crew.jpg is a better quality picture of the crew, possibly of the same image, already hosted at commons which is in use across the project and is almost certainly the image that someone would choose to use in the future.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.  ★  Bigr Tex 18:29, 21 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The file File:S83-35017.jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Orphaned image. There is a better version (File:Sts-9 crew.jpg) already on Commons that would be used in the future in place of this one and is already in use on multiple wikiprojects.
