Hi! I'm a graduate student in the Department of Anthropology at Arizona State University, interested in linguistic, medical and educational anthropology, in critical discourse analysis and Native American languages. My background is in systems analysis and database administration, and I have a company ( http://www.GetCapable.com ) that provides a variety of software process engineering services. I think Wikipedia is a fantastic idea. I stumbled across it in search of home-study material for my kids and just can't help adding things where I can.

I've entered a good bit on Native American languages but there is so much more to add and that is the understatement of the year. I plan to add a few pages on the historical and political context of indigenous language statuses in the US southwest, and discuss what Fishman (1991, 2001) and others have said about revitalization processes. I'd also like to detail what is being done and by whom (contact info) in indigenous language revitalization. I hope to add some information on the increasing urbanization of Native Americans. Two thirds of all Native Americans (according to Census 2000) now live in urbanized areas, yet their experiences have been covered but lightly in educational research.
