Move 1
[edit]- The following discussion is an archived discussion of the proposal. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the proposal was support for move.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 03:35, 12 August 2009 (UTC)
Victoria Lord Davidson → Victoria Lord — Maiden/common name of much-married fictional character, who has recently remarried. The destination is a redirect and requires an admin-assisted move. — TAnthonyTalk 01:31, 5 August 2009 (UTC)
Okay, so now that she's married to charlie Banks, do we keep this article's name to 'Victoria Lord Davidson' or change it to 'Victoria Lord Banks'?Bmf777 (talk) 23:00, 3 August 2009 (UTC)
- I vote that the name of this article be simply Victoria Lord, with a notation of her latest married name at the top of the description. This all becomes convoluted when these female soap characters get married. - The Real One Returns 23:20, 3 August 2009 (UTC)
- I'm with you on "Victoria Lord" ... however, the character is one of few who historically always uses her current husband's name. But we should decide quick, she's been married for five minutes, so some fangirl will make the move any second!!— TAnthonyTalk 23:23, 3 August 2009 (UTC)
- Okay. Well, my vote is that the article gets moved to "Victoria Lord." With Victoria Lord Banks credited inside. Anyone else? - The Real One Returns 23:31, 3 August 2009 (UTC)
- I agree. I don't know why the article has Davidson on it, since that was her name for only nine years. I mean, by that standard, Riley was her name for nine, Buchanan twelve, Carpenter six, and so on and so forth. So, I think Victoria Lord is appropriate.Bmf777 (talk) 01:44, 5 August 2009 (UTC)

- Move this article back to Victoria Lord; it should have already been back under that name (that is her common name), but I know that someone kept moving it back to Victoria Lord Davidson. Flyer22 (talk) 05:32, 6 August 2009 (UTC)
- OK, I think we've all come to a clear Consensus. We should move the article to Victoria Lord. So, can someone move it, please? (I think we have to have assistance, something I don't know how to do)Bmf777 (talk) 21:13, 8 August 2009 (UTC)

Victoria Lord → Viki Lord – Shall we change her name from "Victoria" to "Viki"? I'm sure that "Viki" is her common name. --George Ho (talk) 04:27, 14 December 2012 (UTC)
- Support as Viki appears to be her COMMONNAME from the article context. Tiggerjay (talk) 08:24, 31 December 2012 (UTC)

Not sure about this move, since she is hardly ever referred to as "Viki Lord." It's more "Viki" or "Victoria Lord." Flyer22 (talk) 01:11, 4 January 2013 (UTC)
- I must concur. Viki is something family or close friends call her. She always introduces herself as "Victoria Lord (and/or insert married last name)" FrickFrack 04:42, 15 February 2013 (UTC)
Move 3: Revert to "Victoria Lord"

The result of the proposal was moved. --BDD (talk) 22:37, 17 June 2013 (UTC)
Viki Lord → Victoria Lord – The move from "Victoria Lord" to "Viki Lord" was a controversial one and there was barely any discussion to support such an action. Although the common name of the character within the show narrative is simply "Viki," the far-more common name to refer to the character outside of the genre is "Victoria Lord". Compare Google Books search terms ""Victoria Lord" one life to live" ([1]) and ""Viki Lord" one life to live" ([2]), and Google Scholar search terms "one life to live "Victoria Lord"" ([3]) and "one life to live "Viki Lord""([4]). "Victoria Lord" is the far-more common name beyond the genre, fulfilling criteria on conciseness, naturalness, and consistency. FrickFrack 07:54, 6 June 2013 (UTC)
- Additionally, most search results on Google and Bing return most profiles and web articles with the name "Victoria Lord" and rarely "Viki Lord," or "Victoria Lord" in first reference and "Viki" in second and subsequent references. Further, from research, it appears the standard spelling of the character's nickname, "Viki," was not standardized until sometime in the late 1970s or early 1980s in soap opera publications and newspaper recaps, and much later on the show itself (although when her name was ever shown written on the show, it was routinely as "Victoria" on envelopes, banners, etc.)--and even then, the name has been alternately spelled since. "Victoria Lord" is the more natural, universal title. FrickFrack 03:55, 15 June 2013 (UTC)
- Agreed. I don't think I have ever heard her called "Viki Lord." Viki may be the characters common nickname, but the more formal 'Victoria Lord' is usually how she is initially addressed as the topic of conversation. In print, it usually reads something like 'Erika Slezak began playing the role of Victoria Lord in 1971...and since then the character of Viki has gone gone on to blah, blah and blah...' It's typically after that initial reference as Victoria Lord that she is subsequently referred to as Viki for short. - The Real One Returns (talk) 06:38, 15 June 2013 (UTC)
- Move it back. Like I stated in the #Rename 2: to Viki? section above, she is hardly ever referred to as "Viki Lord." It's more "Viki" or "Victoria Lord." Flyer22 (talk) 10:11, 15 June 2013 (UTC)
